But buying was broken.

You'd find a vendor on Instagram, DM them to ask if something was in stock, wait hours for a reply, get a price, try to arrange payment, and hope for the best. No catalogue. No cart. No confirmation. Just vibes and prayer.

Ibukun Martin had been through this one too many times. In 2024, after yet another frustrating attempt to buy from a Lagos vendor — scrolling through Instagram, sending DMs, getting ghosted — he decided to build the thing that should already exist: a proper storefront for Lagos vendors, where buyers can see everything, pay immediately, and actually trust the process.

EkoVendy launched from Lekki with a simple mission — give every Lagos vendor a professional online store in minutes, and give buyers a place to shop local with confidence.
